Eve 6 Newsletter 5/23/99

Hey there, Eve 6 fans! Hope all of you are doing well, and once again we send our thanks to everyone for helping make the last 14 months so incredible for us; we wouldn't be anything if it wasn't for dedicated fans like you. This will be a pretty long letter, so here we go. First, the bad news. As some of you may know, we have regretfully had to cancel our two week European tour which had been slated from 5/20 to 6/2. We apologize deeply to our fans from Italy, Germany, the U.K., and Spain that had bought tickets and been waiting anxiously for our first headlining stint east of the Atlantic. The only thing I can tell you is that, upon arriving in Europe, we found ourselves suffering from extreme physical and mental exhaustion, and simply could not go on. So we are taking a necessary recovery break until June 5th, on which we will resume the tour. Thank you again for being patient and understanding, and we hope to see you soon.

Our third single, "Open Road Song" is starting to pick up steam. We continually get e-mails from many of you telling us how much you love that particular song, it's one of your favorites on the record, etc. So please, go ahead and call those local modern rock and rock stations and tell them how you feel! As of yet, we have not shot a video for it, simply because we are waiting for the "radio story" to develop, and your requests for Open Road will make that happen. So call that station three times a day and make 'em play it!! :) Then we'll make a video, get on MTV, and ultimately, TRL, baby.

Our U.S. headlining tour with Lit absolutely smoked, and thanks to all the people who came out to the shows. If you haven't yet, check out this band; they are way cool, and we love 'em! (On a sidenote, a very special thank you goes out to all who attended the benefit that we played for the Columbine students in Denver; that was a very positive night, and was a highlight of the tour.) Here's some basic information on our touring plans for the next six months (things could be added or subtracted):

  • June 5th: Hard Rock Fest at the Atlanta Speedway
  • June 6th: Package show in Raleigh, N.C., with Third Eye Blind, us, Collective Soul, and the Marvelous 3
  • June 7th-June 25: More Eve 6 U.S. headlining shows with, once again, the Marvelous 3 (these guys are great, too). Check the website for dates on this.
  • June 18th: KWOD radio fest, Sacramento
  • June 19th: Live 105 radio fest (BFD), San Francisco
  • June 20th: KROQ Weenie Roast, Los Angeles
  • July 1st-14th: Edgefest in Canada, headlining second stage
  • August 8th/9th?: KNRK Portland and The End Seattle radio fests (dates?)
  • Late August-mid September: possible return to Europe
  • Oct./Nov: very tentative but possible U. S. co-headliner with Smashmouth
  • Dec: Sleep for a month

Whew! Like I said before, the later stuff is all subject to mucho change, but I'll keep everyone posted (and I'll try to make sure the website, www.eve6.com, is up to date, because it was missing a lot of dates from the last tour). Speaking of the website, keep checking it, because it should have some cool new pics, soundbytes, etc. in the very near future. We've gotten several requests for the lyrics to the new song that we currently play in the set, "Promise". I regret to say that we cannot give these out until it has been recorded and released, which probably won't be until at least April of next year. So come to the shows and LISTEN. We are completely revamping our merchandise, and you should be seeing several new ideas at coming shows. We're keeping the "Tie Me to the Bedpost" stuff, but everything else is a goner.

Quick clear-up: "rhines", the lyric for Inside Out printed in the album sleeve, is a misprint. It should have read, "rinds", as in orange rinds. Finally! (We've had a year of grief over that!)

Two last things. Firstly, some of you have put "Eve6music" on your lists for forwarded e-mails. Please, kindly remove us from any such lists. We automatically delete mails beginning with "Fwd:", simply because we don't have the space or time to read them, however enjoyable they may be. Second, we've gotten a lot of requests to send things such as CD's, lyrics, autographs, pictures, picks, drumsticks, etc. through the mail to people. I'm afraid we simply cannot do this, for legal reasons. You can find CD's in record stores, lyrics inside, and the other stuff you can usually find at shows (or soon, through our website). Sorry to the people that asked for such things, but we almost always sign stuff after shows, so come on down! :) Thank you all for bearing with me through this long letter. Hopefully your questions have been answered. As always, "Eve6music" is the ONLY registered AOL screenname for us. Feel free to post or forward this newsletter to whomever you want, and tell them to mail "Eve6music" to get on the list for the newsletter. We love you all, and we'll seeya on the road this summer! Later!

---Tony, EVE 6

ADDENDUM to newsletter:

Hello again. One piece of info that I forgot is that we're also playing KTCL Denver's "Big Adventure" radio show. Now I'm not really sure of the date of that or any of the California shows, either. The KROQ Weenie Roast June 20th date is probably wrong, as are some of the others. I thought I had it right, but I don't think I do. You can just check the station's websites or whatever for the exact dates, but they're all in the mid/late June area. OK? Thanx! Oh, and don't forget about Open Road Song! :)
